Alies Sluiter is an award-winning director and screenwriter drawn to character-driven stories about identity and systems of power—told with the occasional splash of levity. She’s also proven her comedic chops directing an episode of the acclaimed ABC comedy Aftertaste.

A BAFTA Newcomer and Berlinale Talent, her work has screened globally. Her Academy Award–qualified short Ayaan has won over 30 awards, including the Australian Directors Guild Award and the National Board of Review Award (USA). Her collaboration on Myth with Gravity & Other Myths also earned an Australian Directors Guild Award.

Before admitting to herself she was a filmmaker, Alies toured internationally as a composer and violinist. She’s currently developing her debut feature and a TV series with Closer Productions.
